Nmap is a security program that is designed to reveal some of the lesser-known vulnerabilities of your network. The program can work for a home or business network. The primary way Nmap works is by scanning the ports of your router. The ports are where hackers could possibly penetrate your network or access the router to change the settings. Nmap will look at each port and inform you of which ports are open. You can use this information to close those ports or just check if someone has been modifying the router settings. Nmap can also send out data packets through the network to check if there are any vulnerabilities between the connected devices.
